The right help at the right time!Cigna's 2012 Behavioral Level of Care GuidelinesUsing evidence-based practice, and accepted clinical practice guidelines for condition-specific management of illness, Cigna has adopted a behavioral Level of Care Guidelines (LOCG) to assist in decision-making concerning requests for benefit authorization. In addition, case-by-case factors and the availability of services in the local delivery system are always considered. A 2012 update to Cigna's behavioral LOCG has been approved and is posted on our Web site, where it may be freely downloaded. Although there are no material changes to the sections of the Level of Care Guidelines that outline decision-making for levels of appropriate care, the preface to the document has been updated to provide consistency between Cigna's medical and behavioral care philosophy. Cigna encourages your review and consideration of these guidelines as a helpful tool in the delivery of effective care for Cigna's customers and welcomes your feedback, which you can provide using the link available on the Web page. |
