Beginning May 1st, 2012, we will manage the behavioral health benefits for Cigna customers with a GWH-Cigna ID card. Previously, these customers accessed behavioral health benefits through Value Options.

Ingenix Name Change

When you complete your next credentialing request from us, you may see an unfamiliar name. That’s because Ingenix, including Aperture Credentialing Inc. (their Credentials’ Verification Organization [CVO]), has begun a transition to a new company name, OptumInsight. Although the full transformation will not be complete until February 2012 changes are already underway.

Telephone and Appointment Access for 2011

Timely access to appointments and the responsiveness of Cigna staff telephonically are critical to customer satisfaction and quality of care. Cigna staff met established goals for timeliness of telephonic response in 2011. A centralized and expanded Triage Team was established in 2011 in an effort to improve performance to appointment access goals in 2012.

A 2012 update to Cigna's Level Of Care Guideleines has been posted on our website.

Continuity and Coordination of Behavioral and Medical Care

Cigna encourages consideration of appropriate coordination of medical and behavioral care for all customers and monitors this in both annual surveys and also review of treatment records of network professionals. Record reviews found only 66% of records contained evidence of attempts to coordinate behavioral care with Primary Care Physicians.

Full NCQA Accreditation Status Awarded

At the end of 2011, Cigna earned “Full” accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its behavioral care centers nationwide.
