" Adobe Acrobat " or " PDF " (portable
document format) files are documents in a special
format which requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader
program.
Please read all of these instructions before
downloading any software.
Getting the Acrobat Reader
You can download a free Adobe Acrobat Reader
for Windows, Macintosh, OS/2, or UNIX.
If you have Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later or
Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later,
installation requires the following steps:
-
Download the
Acrobat Reader to your hard drive. Note where
you have saved it.
-
Close your browser.
-
Find the saved Reader file and double-click it
to begin the installation.
-
Restart your browser.
If you have earlier versions of either Netscape
Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can
simply upgrade
Netscape Navigator or Microsoft
Internet Explorer and then follow the above
instructions.
Using the Acrobat Reader
Page Size
Note that many Acrobat documents are fully 8* x
11 inches or larger. You may think your printer
can print 8* x 11 inch pages, but in fact most
printers cannot print on the extreme outside
edges of a page, and are actually limited to
something more like 8 x 10* inches.
To print a document, please use the print icon in
the Adobe® Acrobat® toolbar, located
above the form. Then, be sure to check
the Shrink to Fit box, and the document will
automatically be scaled to fit on your printable
page:
White-on-Black Images
Some documents contain images where a light color
type is used on a dark background. These images
will generally appear correctly on your screen.
But, depending on what kind of printer you have,
they may not print correctly. (This seems to be a
problem with black-and-white laser printers in
particular.) If, when you print the document, you
see only a dark block and no type, try adjusting
your printer's properties as follows. (These
snapshots are from a Windows 95 system.)
1. From the Acrobat Print dialog box, click
the Setup button:
2. From the Windows 95 Print Setup dialog,
click the Properties button:
3. From there, click the Graphics tab and
select Use raster graphics :
4. Click OK three times.
