Treating The Whole Person

At CIGNA Behavioral Health (CBH), we are committed to being a leader in the marketplace as we continue to develop cutting edge programs to benefit our members. Our goal is to achieve the best results for a range of customer needs. Having the ability to integrate our programs and services effectively and efficiently with others has not only led to our organization being among the fastest growing in the industry, it has been key in the development and understanding of holistic care and the benefits of treating the whole person, mentally as well as physically.

The following includes a brief summary of some of the programs and initiatives that we have developed which concentrate on promoting overall health and wellness:

1) Comprehensive Oncology Program

Early identification and referrals between CBH and CIGNA Healthcare (CHC) for those patients who have cancer as well as those at risk for cancer. This includes encouragement to utilize the appropriate EAP and behavioral health services, family education, depression assessments, and education on benefit structure and support services.

2) Comprehensive Maternity Program

This includes a tailored plan for pregnant CHC members who may need a depression evaluation, EAP financial or legal counseling services, depending on their benefits.

3) Health Advisor 2.0

A comprehensive program which incorporates a holistic view of each member’s health status to facilitate healthy behaviors and promote achievement of health related goals. The program team may include Registered Nurses, Behaviorists, Health Educators, and/or Nutritionists, and members will have health and wellness coaching. This program may be implemented for members with conditions such as Back Pain, Benign Uterine conditions, Breast Cancer, Coronary Artery Disease, Osteoarthritis, and Prostate Cancer.

4) Changing Lives by Integrating Mind and Bodies (CLIMB)

The CLIMB program recognizes that thoughts, emotions and behaviors directly affect physical and mental health. By participating in the program, members learn how the mind and body interact and how that interaction affects overall well-being. The 8-week program includes weekly group sessions, individual coaching sessions, interactive lectures/group discussions, workbook & relaxation CD, and activities for practice between group sessions.
